We have a vinyl obsession
If you have been into the store then you know we have an obsession with vinyl. So do our customers. I have included the ornaments we did in the store. Also, included is our customer Kathleen's Car. She changes it often. Also, in January we will start carrying yellow, orange and purple vinyl. We also begin to carry 12 inch wide vinyl as well. Have a good day and sorry it's been a while since I last blogged. I almost have my entry done on what blade cap and depth to use for different paper types.

A few layouts(Disney of course)
Someday I will finish our Disney albums. It is taking longer because I am making two at once. I decided rather than trying to keep our books in day order I would go with park order.
For Sea World I used the lighthouse from the Silhouette and went to www.mydiecuts.com and found Shamu. Since I did it on the Silhouette I was able to lay them on the lght house and make them the correct size on he first try. For the entrance to Magic kingdom I used the Cricut expressions to make the big ears. For the entrance to Animal Kingdom I used the Cricut. I know I am a traitor. I used the tree on Stretch you imagination. For Epcot center I just bought the reminisce paper that all ready looks like the entrance and just cut it with my circle cutter. For Hollywood Studios I used the party hat on the Silhouette and stretched it tall removed the ball on top. I then layed the stars and moon on the hat so they fit perfectly. On the opposite page i put a map of each park that I printed off of the computer. On the Disney site you can actually made customized maps of exactly what you did and the restaurants you ate at. I have more pics to post later. Have a good evening sorry it took me so long.

Harley Davidson Layout
Alright I am back to blogging. This layout is from my trip to Disney with my dad. See a theme of what I am working on. I am trying to finish this book. So this is a cricut layout. The titling was done on the silhouette. I used the Going Places cartridge. The paper is the Harley Davidson line from EK Success. They sell it at the Scrapbook Page. I am doing one for myself but I am using the pink flames. If you are looking for traditional dies The Scrapbook Page is having a huge sale on them they range from $1.99 to $13.99. Have a good day!

Silhouete and Diana's blog
Everyone has been asking when I am going to add a Silhouette 103. Well, my life is finally settling down. My sister got her new kidney this week. Thank you Ronda. (Her best friend gave her a kidney.) She is the best. Thank you everyone for your prayers. So, now I can learn ink scape. So in October I will be teaching how to import in your own images and the print and cut feature. I hope you all are having a good summer. I can't believe it's almost over. I am ready to go to the beach again. For the above card. Diana Foster who is a designer at the store. She made this card using the Quickutz metal and the cuddle bug embossing folders. (Which are 40% off right now.) I love this card. Their are a lot of examples of her work on her blog as well. You can check them out at http://www.designsbydiana.typepad.com/. Well, have a good day. I gotta run I have to work in the store today.

Sketching your images
I have been really bad at blogging. This is because I have not been in my scrapbook room since June 20th. I think that is a record for me. I plan on working on Monday and Tuesday I have so much to do. I have to have my dad's book done by next Saturday. So, my dad was an awesome sport at Disney World and humored me by getting his picture taken with all of the characters. I decided instead of spending the money to buy all of the individual characters I would make my own. To make my layout I went to http://i-love-disney.com/downloads/disney-cartoon-fonts/. I found the characters. The next problem I encountered was they were too sketchy and would not cut. I then grabbed my handy pens and sketched them on the color of paper that coordinated with the character. (Have I mentioned I love my silhouette.) After they were done drawing, I did not move anything then clicked on the shadow button and then let it cut out. After they were cut out I then used my color pencils to color them in. My dad thought I drew them. So far this is one of my favorite Disney layout.

New Classes at The Scrapbook Page
The July, August and September classes have been posted. So, go check them out at http://thescrapbookpageonline.com/. For all of you die cut machine owners you will want to check out Carolyn Grays Detailing your die cuts class. She really makes them pop off the page. The best part is she will cut the shapes for you. I am planning on taking it as well. The instructors love to use their own die cut machines so taking their classes can help inspire you to do more with your own machine. Well, have a good evening!

The replacement
This layout was inspired by an idea I saw in Creating Keepsakes magazine. I could not resist. Brian got me a new car for Christmas so I had to scrap it of course. I had driven my old car for 8 years so it was bittersweet when I got my new car. To make this layout I did my titling on the silhouette of course. I used the going places cartridge on the cricut which is one of my favorites. For the photo mats if you zoom in and look I used black magic coordinations paper and I used an embossing folder and then sanded down to the blue. It gave it a lot of dimension.

Animal Kingdom
I know I have been a bad blogger. However, I have been a really good scrapbooker. I have been very busy trying to make my Dad's scrapbook from my Disney trip. I have about 20 double page layouts, so I have a lot to post I just need to take pics. For the above layout I use both the Silhouette and the Cricut. The little jungle car was made on the silhouette. The animals were made on the Cricut as well as the title. I used Graphic 45, reminisce and coordination's paper this layout. I had a lot of fun making it. I have enjoyed making the Disney album it's such a change from my normal books. Have a good evening. I will post again soon,

Megan's Disney Mini
Hey, I just thought I'd share the mini book that fellow Page girl Megan made for me for my recent trip to Disney! She made the cover using the welding feature on the silouhette. That is my favorite new feature. Also, check out the store schedule she has some great mini book classes coming up.
You can check out Megan at her blog http://www.bare-rosavert.blogspot.com or you can see her upcoming classes at The Scrapbook Page.

Game Night
O.K. so if you have not figured out yet I am a die cut junky. I use them on every layout. For this layout I used the dice on the silhouette and used them as little journal boxes. Hope you are having a good spring. Don't forget May 2, 2009 is National Scrapbook day. The store will be having a crop and lots of fun stuff going on in the store.

Silhouette Certification
I talked to Brian at Quickutz today and they are now letting anyone do the silhouette certification. It's now called a tutorial. So if you go to the following link you can learn a lot about your silhouette. It's how I learned the more advanced functions on my silhouette. Have a good evening. http://www.silhouettemachine.com/training/

Flowers
Hope you had a good Easter. We had our family over it was crazy. Lot's of good stuff for some future layouts. Hopefully we get some more spring weather. I can only get my tulips to open up if I bring them in the house where it's warm. My above layout is from last mother's day. I mad the tree with three full pages of flowers and a tree from the silhouette. I took me longer to glue them down then it did to cut them out but it looks great. The scalloped circle is also from the silhouette. Well, I have a good evening! I added a little bling to my website. Because, you can never have too much bling.

Hogle Zoo Utah
These pictures are from our trip to Utah for the Quickutz retreat. I used wallet size photo and a five by seven. For the die cuts I used the Animal Kingdom cartridge on the Cricut. Yes, you are correct I now have the Cricut expressions. I still love my silhouette and the fact that I don't have to have all the cartridges. For titling and getting things these exact size on the first cut. This page could be done with the silhouette. Have a good day!

You're such a Hoot
I wanted to use this owl from the moment they released it in October. At Christmas one of our nephews was playing in a cloths hamper. When I tried to take his photo he turned his head, when I told him I would keep his presents I got a cheesy smile. The owl is a Quickkutz download and then I used one of the branches. I removed the cutout eyes and used googly eyes instead. Well, I am off to teach class. Have a good day!
Random shapes
We had snow yesterday, so I took photos of all of my layouts for my blog. The top two photos are a cupcake from the Block Party portfolio CD. After I cut it out I used the cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the top with swirls and then I used sparkly embossing powder. For the bottom of the cupcake I used the crimper. The next one is just a cute little snow hat. I have another layout that I need to fix but I used the top of the hat and made it into a meatball. Julie Case used it as an egg last week for a recipe divider. For the pizza, I used the shapes on the side of the silhouette and then used the scallop circle and topped it with little pepperonis. After it was done I cut the pizza crust so it looked tossed. I designed it on the screen by layering it so I could get the proportions correct. So, that is all for this post. I am going to add some more layouts in a minute.

What's a Cuttlebug?
So I was asked what a cuttle bug is. It is a machine similar to the bigshot that you can emboss or die cut with. If you look at the birthday layout that has the nubers on the side, I embossed it with the cuttlebug and then inked it. I will be teaching a class in May and June on the differences in the die cut machines and how to use them. Which is the perfect class for me the tool junky. If you go to http://www.thescrapbookpageonline.com/ you can checkout all of the latest classes. I have several Silhouette 101 and 102 classes. I have seen the other instructors layouts and they are all super cute. Tomorrow I will try to post a new layout. Have a good evening.

Spring layout
Spring is getting closer. Yesterday it was 80 degrees here. I love spring! This layout is a day in our yard last summer. The birds are the birds a calling from the 12 days of Christmas on the silhouette. The little flower I sketched. I love sketching things it gives it a real handmade look. I really need to take some more photos I am running out of layouts on my computer. I also need to scrapbook. I am going to the Omaha Zoo tomorrow. So I will have more pictures to scrapbook. I am so far behind. Well, have a good evening.

Science Layout
Good afternoon! I used the above layout of my husband and nieces doing science experiments. My sisters oldest daughter loves science just like my husband. The beaker is from the quickutz website of course. For my nieces birthday party my sister made slime and put them in test tubes and then used the Little beakers to put the instructions on. They were super cute. Well have a good day.

Birthday layout
This page layout is a very simple. I used the Happy Birthday title from Block party. I have used it on every birthday layout this year. I then used ultra think embossing powder and embossed the happy birthday. When you see the layout in person it looks like vinyl. Well that is all I am going to post for today. I still have some more layouts to post. It will probably be next week.
Brian's Birthday
Here is a layout I love. I used the cuddle bug numbers embossing folder and then inked it on the paper on the sides. For the celebrate and the 35 I used the block party portfolio cd. I love the cd's the rumor is they are going to quit carrying them.(QK has not confirmed this.) However, we still have some at the Scrapbook Page.
carving pumpkins
O.K. so I am way behind on my scrapbook. Last fall I went to pumpkin patch with my sister and the girls. So, for the first time in a long time we decided to carve pumpkins. Mainly because I wanted fried pumpkin seeds. We still had fun. The frame that the fall art is on is from the QK web site it is frame 1025. And the jack o' lantern is pumpkin 802. I just removed the vines.
Free font websites
Good morning! Everyone keeps asking me where you can find Disney characters to cut. A few weeks ago a customer showed me some tree dingbats she had cut out that she found on refont.com. They are really cool. They also have Hello Kitty and Mario Brothers just to name a few. So, I went on the hunt for Disney and after several days of searching google I hit the jackpot. i-love-disney.com/downloads/disney-cartoon-fonts. When you go to cut them if you first weld them then you are able to ungroup them so you can get your layered looks. Well, have a good day! I may post some layouts later today.
